There are about<strong>&nbsp;20 km of marked tourist trails<\/strong>&nbsp;in the alpine zone available every winter so that the tourists can enjoy their winter holidays in the Tatras to the fullest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seasonal closure of selected hiking trails in the High Tatras <strong>lasts from November 1 to June 14.<\/strong> At this time, nature and animals enjoy their winter rest. Above all, higher paths, saddles and shields are closed. Always take the overall\nsituation and your abilities into account and be ready to go back anytime if needed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Official explanation\nof the seasonal tourist trail closure:<br>\n<em>Selected tourist\ntrails in the Tatra National Park are closed from 1<sup>st<\/sup> November to 14<sup>th<\/sup>\nJune, when nature is most vulnerable. It\u2019s the chamois rut season and the\nperiod when the risk of disturbing chamois in dangerous avalanche terrain is\nhigher, plus the sensitive spring nesting season and the period when young\nanimals of several protected species in the Tatras come out<\/em><em>.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Mountain Rescue\nService <\/strong>looks after your safety in the mountains. It\u2019s very important to\nfollow the laws of the mountains as well as the instructions of the Mountain\nRescue Service in alpine terrain. Before you set out for your trip, the best is\nto check <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hzs.sk\/\"><strong>the latest situation in the\nmountains.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to get your\nbearings when hiking in winter? Outside of woodland, markings on stones are\nreplaced with markings on poles. <br>\n<strong>A nativity scene of snow at\nRainer\u2019s hut, waterfalls of Studen\u00fd potok (brook), trips to valleys or romantic\nwalks around a snow-covered winter country<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 these are\nonly some examples of what the winter in the Tatras offers.
