There is a developed local transport of slow trains and buses in the region. To get to mountain resorts, one can use the Tatra Electric Railway or a bus from Poprad or a rag railway from Tatransk\u00e1 \u0160trba, which has a station for fast trains. Tourists can also use the parking lot and take the shuttle bus to the resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transport in the High Tatras is ensured by two supporting transport systems – the Tatransk\u00e9 elektric\u00e9 \u017eeleznice (TE\u017d) and the Ozubnicov\u00e1 \u017eeleznica (O\u017d),<\/strong> which connect the main centers of the High Tatras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tatra electric railways (Tatransk\u00e9 elektrick\u00e9 \u017eeleznice \u2013 TE\u017d) <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Tatra Electric Railway (TE\u017d) in the High Tatras provides transport on the lines Poprad-Tatra \u2013 Star\u00fd Smokovec \u2013 \u0160trbsk\u00e9 Pleso and Star\u00fd Smokovec \u2013 Tatransk\u00e1 Lomnica. From February 2022, new hybrid trams – cogwheels will be running on these lines at the same time, but they will run primarily in the \u0160trba – \u0160trbsk\u00e9 Pleso section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cog railway (Ozubnicov\u00e1 \u017eeleznica \u2013 OZ )<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It transports passengers between \u0160trba railway station and is an important tourist starting point for the High Tatras. It is a railway, where the transmission of the traction force is ensured by a gear engaging in a toothed rack in the axis of the track. The cog railway line was reconstructed in 2019-2022, and the old cogs were replaced after 50 years by new hybrid electric cogs (Wardavica, Vysok\u00e1, Stredohort, Kostolik, Ganek), which, in addition to O\u017d, can also run on the TE\u017d line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rides on historic trams in the High Tatras<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Riding in historic trams under the peaks of the High Tatras is an exceptional experience. During the summer and winter seasons, two historic trams – Kom\u00e9ta from 1913 and Troj\u010da from 1969 – operate on the TE\u017d tracks on designated days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
