Are you planning a holiday in the High Tatras and don\u2019t want to leave your four-legged friend at home? No problem! The High Tatras offer designated trails for hiking with dogs, where you can enjoy nature together.<\/strong> Discover stunning views by cable cars, walk along hiking trails, and enjoy active relaxation with your dog in areas that are also accessible for pets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the latest regulation on the national park rules<\/a>, effective from 15th<\/sup> December 2023, the movement of pets in the Tatra National Park area has been restricted<\/strong>. Despite these limitations, there are still popular routes where you can go with your pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tatra National Park can be entered with animals now only outside of areas with marmot colonies, areas with permanent presence of chamois herds and areas where large predators and other rare and endangered species are found.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These rules are there to prevent encounters with wildlife, dogs running off or coming into contact with other dogs, conflicts with cyclists, running off the hiking trails, swimming in forest streams or lakes and dislodging rocks onto other hikers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even with the new park rules and restrictions in the Tatra National Park, there are plenty of interesting places you can visit with your dog, whether on foot or by cable car.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Transporting dogs by cable cars in the High Tatras<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In the High Tatras, dogs can be transported by cable cars, and you can enjoy hiking together. For example, you can take a chairlift from \u0160trbsk\u00e9 Pleso to the Chalet below Mt Solisko<\/strong> or a cable car from Tatransk\u00e1 Lomnica to Skalnat\u00e9 Pleso<\/strong>. From Star\u00fd Smokovec, you can travel with a funicular to Hrebienok<\/strong>. Large dogs need to have their own cable car tickets, so they can share the adventure with you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the Tatransk\u00e1 Lomnica and Star\u00fd Smokovec<\/strong> resorts, dogs are allowed on all cable cars except for the chairlift running to Lomnick\u00e9 sedlo (saddle) and the cable car running to Mt Lomnick\u00fd \u0161t\u00edt. The fare for larger dogs on cable cars is 10\u20ac per animal<\/strong>, and on the Hrebienok<\/strong> funicular, it is 6\u20ac per animal<\/strong>. In the \u0160trbsk\u00e9 Pleso<\/strong> resort, dogs are allowed on all cable cars, with the fare for larger dogs being 9\u20ac per animal<\/strong>.
