(Poprad, Liptovsk\u00fd Mikul\u00e1\u0161, 7th<\/sup> October 2025) \u2013 This winter, a brand-new flight route will connect the Tatras with the Polish city of Gda\u0144sk. Starting from 25th<\/sup> December 2025 to 5th June 2026 , Wizz Air will operate flights twice a week, giving skiers a comfortable way to travel from the Baltic Sea straight to top ski resorts in the High Tatras and on Mt Chopok in just a few hours. For Poprad \u2013 Tatry Airport, this is excellent news. For hoteliers in the High Tatras and the Liptov region, it\u2019s also a big opportunity and a challenge to prepare attractive winter holiday packages with transfers from the airport included and to win over a new group of winter guests.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing the Tatras and Liptov with Gda\u0144sk together has long been a dream, and this winter it is finally becoming reality. \u201cFrom a tourism perspective, Poprad Airport has huge potential. Skiers can reach selected accommodation establishments in Poprad within minutes of landing and be on ski pistes or settled in hotels in the High Tatras or Jasn\u00e1 in under an hour. This kind of accessibility gives Slovak ski resorts a powerful competitive edge \u2014 and we fully intend to make the most of it,\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>said Lucia Bla\u0161kov\u00e1, Director of the REGION VYSOK\u00c9 TATRY regional tourism organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new route was officially presented at a press conference in Gda\u0144sk today. \u201cFlights from Gda\u0144sk to Poprad will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. The very first flight to the Tatras will take off on Christmas Day, 25th<\/sup> December 2025,\u201d <\/em><\/strong>said Darina Bartkov\u00e1, Director of the REGION LIPTOV regional tourism organisation. Further details about the flight schedules and accommodation packages will be released soon. The launch of the new service was announced by Wizz Air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poprad \u2013 Tatry Airport is known as a key gateway to the Tatras, and travellers appreciate its friendly, family-like atmosphere and fast passenger handling. \u201cWe\u2019ve been working on securing this connection for several months, and we truly believe it will be a success. But it\u2019s not just ski pistes that make the Tatras such an irresistible winter destination. Visitors from Poland can also look forward to top-quality water parks in Poprad, Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1 and Liptovsk\u00fd Mikul\u00e1\u0161, the spectacular Tatra Temple of Ice in Hrebienok, unforgettable winter hikes to cosy mountain chalets and breathtaking views. The Tatras have a lot to offer, and for residents of Gda\u0144sk and the surrounding region, a winter escape to Slovakia is set to become a truly attractive and accessible alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
