Spend a beautiful winter in the Tatras and enjoy unforgettable moments in the Tatra Temple of Ice at Hrebienok, which is inspired by St. Peter´s Basilica of Rome and Bernini´s colonnade this year.
The masterpiece of ice will be opened from 23rd November. Precise details of the ice temple will be designed by Adam Bakoš and a team of Slovak, Czech and Spanish sculptors. An unbelievable number of 1,880 ice blocks, which is 225 tonnes of ice will be used to build the cathedral.
The Tatra Temple of Ice will be bigger and more spectacular this year, placed under a bigger cover with a diameter of 25 metres again.
Stained-glass decorations will be made by Achilleas Sdoukos, a glassmaker and designer of Slovak-Greek origin, who focuses on using the magical material of glass when making his creations. This is the third time that he is responsible for artistic decorations inside the Tatra Temple of Ice.
The majestic piece of art, one and only in Slovakia, is definitely worth visiting. Precise work and details are emphasised by beautiful lights. Visit this Slovak rarity and feel like in a fairytale of ice for a while. The temple offers an even more emotional atmosphere during live music concerts which will be held inside during the winter season.
Tatra temple will be open daily 9:00 – 18:15.
