From a village at the foot of the Tatra Mountains to a quiet forest path

The long loop begins in the center of Nová Lesná near the Mountain Guides Park. After an initial stretch through the village streets, it joins the paved forest road known as “Biela púť,” which gradually climbs toward Dolný Smokovec. The more open sections of the route offer views of the peaks of the High Tatras.

The route is technically undemanding and consists mostly of paved surfaces. Given its length of over 11 kilometers and a total elevation gain of approximately 233 meters, it is particularly suitable for runners who can handle a longer continuous run on a gently undulating terrain. After reaching Dolný Smokovec, the loop returns to Nová Lesná via an asphalt road.

Distance and Pace Distribution

The route is classified as an easy trail, but it’s over 11 kilometers long. So set a more relaxed pace right from the start and save enough energy for the gradual climb along the Biela púť forest trail.

Terrain and Appropriate Footwear

Approximately 87% of the course is paved, and the remaining 13% runs along a sidewalk. Road or all-purpose running shoes are recommended, as they provide sufficient cushioning on hard surfaces and stability on shorter sections of natural terrain.

Traffic and Navigation

The route runs through the streets of Nová Lesná and, toward the end, along the road connecting to Dolný Smokovec. Outside of the organized event, please be mindful of vehicles, use the sidewalks, and follow the green markings or the current map of the route at intersections.

Elevation Profile

The lowest point of the route is at an elevation of approximately 736 meters above sea level, and the highest point reaches 914 meters above sea level. The total ascent is approximately 233 meters, and the total descent is 232 meters.

The starting point at the Mountain Guides Park is located at an elevation of approximately 749 meters above sea level. After an initial, gentler section, the trail gradually ascends along the Biela púť forest road. You’ll reach the highest point before descending to Dolný Smokovec, from where the route gradually returns to the starting elevation.

Course Route

The run starts in the center of Nová Lesná, near the Mountain Guides Park. The first 700 meters or so follow the village streets, after which you’ll join the paved forest trail called Biela púť.

Continue along the forest road for nearly eight kilometers. The trail gradually gains elevation and, in more open areas, offers panoramic views of the High Tatras.

About 8.5 kilometers from the starting point, you’ll arrive in Dolný Smokovec. From there, continue along the paved road back to Nová Lesná.

The final section will take you to the Mountain Guides Park, where the loop ends.
