Mountains and hiking

There are about 600 km of marked tourist trails in the territory of the High Tatras that take the tourists to the most attractive places of this mountain region. Tourist trails leading through valleys, ascents to Tatra chalets, trails to the most beautiful tarns or a fascinating world of animals and plants.

Visit this picturesque region. You will love it.

The High Tatras are ideal for all tourists. They offer easy walks for families with children, active hiking for more demanding tourists or real challenges for those who want to reach the highest peaks.

All tourist trails designated for tourists in the Tatra National Park are marked (red, blue, green, yellow) and divided in groups according to the level of difficulty.

WALKING IN THE AREA
Less demanding tourists can make short walks of max. 2 hours. They are ideal even for families with children.

HIKING IN VALLEYS
If you are one of more demanding tourists, you should definitely try longer hikes in valleys. Set out for tarns and chalets along marked tourist trails, embraced by a beautiful panorama of alpine nature.

ASCENTS TO PEAKS
The most demanding tourists with determination to surmount difficult terrain and great vertical drops will enjoy ascents to peaks. Many peaks are accessible with mountain guides only. Safety comes first so every ascent should be well prepared.

Thanks to the project of “The Tatras without barriers”, the highest Slovak mountain range is accessible also to disabled citizens and families with prams. Have a look at our tips for family hiking trips.
