A museum that takes you back to the early days of skiing in the Tatras
The SKI Museum in Tatranská Lomnica traces the origins and development of winter sports in the High Tatras. Through 19 informational panels, period exhibits, and a short film, you’ll learn about the beginnings of skiing, ice skating, curling, mountaineering, sledding, and bobsledding.
Among the most valuable exhibits are three unique bobsleds from the former tracks in Tatranská Lomnica and a 3.07-meter-long pair of Scandinavian skis from 1885. A separate section of the exhibition commemorates the World Championships in Nordic disciplines, which took place in Štrbské Pleso in 1970. After the tour, you can relax with a cup of coffee and a pastry in the museum café.
