Discover the story of the Tatra Mountains' formation and evolution

The Podmuráň Geological Education Area is a unique open-air exhibition located in the Javorová Valley. Three informational panels with photographs and detailed descriptions provide visitors with insights into the origin, geological formation, and gradual shaping of the Tatra Mountains into their present form.

The site also features rock specimens that allow visitors to examine the geological composition of the Tatra massif up close. The easy trail leads from Tatranská Javorina toward Javorová Valley and is suitable for families with children, visitors with strollers, and people with limited mobility.

Access to the Exhibition

You can reach the educational area from Tatranská Javorina by heading toward Javorová Valley. The trail continues to the crossroads below Muráň and then for a few minutes to the geological exhibit.

Accessible Route

The access trail has a mostly compacted gravel surface and is one of the designated barrier-free routes in the High Tatras. Suitability for a specific type of stroller or wheelchair may depend on the current condition of the surface.

Outdoor Exhibition

The panels and rock samples are located outdoors. In case of inclement weather, expect wet surfaces and limited shelter. Stay on the marked trail, do not damage the displayed rocks or informational signs, and take all your trash with you.
